2018 - 2019 Red Door Programs

Red Door Early Learning Center offers STEAM based early childhood school programs.
Our STEAM activities are designed to prepare children to think analytically, solve problems and work in partnerships on multi-day and multi-week projects.

At Red Door, students are actively engaged and receive explicit phonics instruction, small group writing directives, and explore concepts of math. Our program is aligned with the Standards of Education and our students generate portfolios to show individual growth. The best part is….this is all accomplished through play, which fosters a love of learning!!

Red Door is a Non-Profit, Private Academic Preschool governed by the Department of Education.

Red Door invites only the finest faculty to join our team. Our teaching staff is required to have a minimum of a 4-year degree in Elementary and/or Early Childhood Education as well as participate in ongoing professional development to ensure our programs and practices are the most current in today’s growing world.

We believe in giving our students every opportunity, experience, and devote all of our efforts to help each child reach his or her maximum learning potential.

Each unit of study will be planned using an interdisciplinary approach. All domains will be integrated within the unit and activities/experiences will vary from day to day [though at times there will be a need for lessons outside of the unit of study as dictated by the needs of the group]. Every day there will be a read aloud during PBL time, in addition to a mix of teacher directed and child-directed activities with instruction in both whole and small groups, as well as frequent opportunities for independent work that will be compiled in the portfolio culminating each unit of study.

Read alouds will be a mix of fiction and nonfiction. Math related books read aloud by a teacher will usually have students working along independently or with a partner with manipulatives/dry erase boards while another teacher circulates and works one-on-one with students. Interactive shared group reads will be content related and have a focus in phonics. Project-based lessons will include math, fine motor, language development, socialization, science, social studies, creative expression (through art, music, and movement), and fine/gross motor development, as well as executive functioning and resilience development. We will be utilizing Big Day for Pre-K to assist in planning our course outlines and thematic units according to the standards.

Program Descriptions

PRIMER (3-4 Years of age)

During the earliest years of preschool, our Primers will discover and use this discovery to create and inquire about all areas of life around them. Our focus will be teaching children shapes, numbers, colors, and letter recognition, pre-writing skills, and phonemic awareness. These areas of focus will be integrated daily into our project-based units of study so students can explore them in intentional and meaningful ways. Social-emotional components will be fostered through mindfulness approaches to learning. Our curriculum aligns to the standards for Early Childhood Education. It has been approved by the Department of Education.
